Lighthouse Charity brings #MakeItVisible to Sugar House Island

Representatives from the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity visited the Sugar House Island site as part of the #MakeItVisible campaign. Site teams got direct access to the charity's mental health support services and how to use them. The session was run by Andy and Sam from Lighthouse.

Study Group campus expands with a second floor at Sugar House Island

Satoplast was reappointed to fit out the floor directly below the existing University of Huddersfield / Study Group campus. The new floor matches the layout and finish of the original: teaching rooms, breakout spaces, offices and social areas. It is the second phase of fit-out delivered for this campus.

R3B precast superstructure complete at Sugar House Island

Satoplast completed the precast concrete superstructure for Plot R3B in February 2026, on schedule. The frame is now ready for the next phase of works on the R3/R4 waterfront residential blocks. As principal contractor, Satoplast coordinated the installation programme with the project team and supply chain.

NRMM ‘Excellent’ rating for plant and machinery

Satoplast achieved an ‘Excellent’ rating under the Non-Road Mobile Machinery scheme in November 2025, which checks how contractors manage and maintain plant to meet emissions standards in London's air quality zones. The rating sits alongside the ISO 14001 environmental management certification already held by the business.

Partnership pledged with the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity

Satoplast pledged support to the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, the only charity dedicated to emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support for construction workers and their families. The charity ran an on-site talk covering the helplines and support services available to the workforce.

Tower crane erected as main construction starts on R3/R4

The tower crane went up on plots R3 and R4 in September 2025, marking the shift from enabling works to full construction on the waterfront blocks that will deliver 244 apartments for Vastint. Superstructure and façade installation followed.

Electric telehandler added to the plant fleet

Satoplast added an electric telehandler to its site plant fleet in August 2025, matching the lifting capacity of a diesel model without the emissions or the noise. It supports the NRMM compliance strategy and the ISO 14001 environmental management system, particularly on urban sites like Sugar House Island.

The Lounge by Vastint completed

Satoplast finished fitting out The Lounge, a flexible workspace for Vastint tenants and their guests at Sugar House Island. The scope covered bespoke joinery, specialist finishes and material selections across meeting, collaboration and social spaces.

Study Group London campus fit-out complete

Satoplast completed the interior fit-out for the University of Huddersfield / Study Group London campus at Sugar House Island, built for postgraduate business students. The scope included bespoke joinery, internal doorsets, timber flooring and acoustic wall panelling across teaching rooms, breakout spaces and offices.

Sugar House Island team donates to the Salvation Army food bank

Satoplast, alongside subcontractors and client Vastint, made a donation to the local Salvation Army food bank over the 2024 holiday season. The gesture came out of the team's day-to-day presence in the Stratford community around Sugar House Island.

244 homes, £100m programme awarded across blocks R3A, R3B and R4

Vastint appointed Satoplast principal contractor for blocks R3A, R3B and R4: 244 build-to-rent homes with riverside landscaping to the canal basin, valued at £100m. The project falls under the High Risk Buildings category of the Building Safety Act, and Satoplast had to prove its competency to hold the role. Production Director Paul Millson FCIOB flagged that design sign-off and manufacture needed to land in time for a site start in January 2025.

Paul Millson FCIOB joins as Production Director

Paul Millson FCIOB joined Satoplast as Production Director in May 2024, after working as a consultant on the company's UK growth. He brings over 20 years of hands-on delivery experience as a contractor and developer across SME and Tier 1 businesses.
